Hello, my name is Mrs. Arlene Casis and I am pleased to introduce myself as the new Director of Our Lady of Lourdes, Rose Cottage Preschool. I come here with over 12 years of classroom experience in grades preschool through 2nd grade.
After completing my first year of college I decided that I had a passion for Early Childhood Education. I worked at a preschool as an assistant while attending a local community college to complete my A.S. in Early Childhood Education. I then transferred to California State University, Northridge where I attained my B.A. in Child Development and my Site Supervisor Permit. After working full-time at a center in Pasadena as the Lead Pre-K teacher I decided to pursue my Master’s degree in Elementary Education at Loyola Marymount University. While attending LMU I decided to try my hand at the elementary level; I was soon employed at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran School in West Hills as their 1st grade teacher. During my second year of teaching 1st grade I also served as Assistant Director of Glendale Community College’s Child Development Center’s evening program.
After 5 wonderful years of teaching, I decided to dedicate my full attention to my most important student yet, my 1 year old son! After spending a year at home with a toddler I realized that I missed working with preschoolers, which is what brings me to this wonderful place.
I am excited to embark on this new journey at Our Lady of Lourdes! As a former Catholic school student (2nd grade through 12th grade), I know the feeling of being part of a community, working to serve others. I look forward to a wonderful school year!
