Uniform Update:

Girls may wear white or navy blue tights under their skort or jumper on cold days. Tights have feet in them. NO leggings, Spanx or tightly fitting stretchy pants are permitted.

Do you know someone interested in a great education? Help our school grow! YOU can make a difference!  It’s time to boast about CATHOLIC SCHOOLS especially OLL! Invite a friend to the Catholic Schools Week Kick-Off Mass next Sunday, Jan. 29th, at 10:30! All OLL students who come to Mass in uniform will be rewarded with Free Dress on Monday, Jan 30th.

 

Please say a prayer or two for our 8th graders as they take their placement exam at the Catholic High School of their choice on Saturday, January 28th.

 

Also, keep our First Communion candidates in your prayers as they experience their Retreat on  Saturday.

 

PTO’s Black & White Gala is next Saturday, Feb. 4th! For your $70 admission you get: unlimited martinis from 6:00-7:00, Dinner, Dessert, Music, Dancing, a performance by Cirque du Soleil AND the opportunity to bid on fabulous items at the Live and Silent Auction!

Stop by the elementary school and see the amazing auction baskets that our awesome Room Parents have put together! Treat yourself to an elegant evening with Mrs. Reynaga, teachers and staff, fellow OLL friends, and perfect strangers! Thanks to Linda Martinez, Sonya Lineses, and our PTO Board for pulling out all the stops to make this event fabulous!

 

If you did not turn in your contribution to your child’s class basket, please do so Monday.

 

SUPER “CHILI” BOWL SUNDAY is February 5th. Come and purchase your delicious, homemade chili by the pint or the quart! Chow down a bowl during the Superbowl Game!  YUM!  Support the Religious Education Department in their annual fundraiser!  Order forms went home this week or call Lona at 353-3053.

 

God bless our Second Graders who make their First Reconciliation on Tuesday evening, January 31st.

 

$CRIP NEWS! Get in the habit every payday to buy $CRIP at school! It costs you nothing and OLL gets much needed $$$! $CRIP is sold every day at school and on Sundays from 9:45 – 1:45 on the church patio. Valentine’s Day is coming soon!! Go to www.scripsense.com to order your SCRIP. April 30th is the last day to earn $CRIP percentages for the 2016-17 school year. If you have questions about our $CRIP Program, please call Mrs. Rhodes in the office!

 

Mad Science classes begin Friday Feb. 10th, for a six week session. The theme is NASA: Academy of Future Space Explorers. Classes are after school from 1:30-2:30 for students in grades K-6 in the first grade classroom. Participants may attend ACE for FREE in order to eat their lunch after school. Six classes are only $102. Go online at http://register.madscience.org to sign up! The deadline to enroll is Monday!

 

Also offered on Fridays is Parker Anderson’s Jr. Robot Building Workshops. The seven week session is only $105.00 from January 27-March 17. Go online to www.parker-anderson.org to sign up! The deadline to enroll is Monday!

 

 

It’s that time of year again! We will have nominations for the PARENT/TEACHER ORGANIZATION BOARD (PTO) at the General Meeting on Feb. 15th.  Do you have ideas for fundraisers, social events, Academic Decathlon, or for our school in general?  Let your voice be heard!  Join the PTO Board!  Pre-K, Kindergarten and First Grade parents, this is a great opportunity to meet other parents!  We need new people with new ideas.  Any parents interested in a position on the Board (or would just like more information) should contact parliamentarian, Michelle Miller at 818-293-2345.

 

 

 

 

 

 

A Few Important Notes from our School Nurse:

All flu viruses cause a respiratory illness that can last a week or more.  Flu season can begin in October and last until May.  Here are the symptoms of the flu and the common cold:
